Obituary for Carl Douglas Sweeny
Carl Douglas “Doug” Sweeney was born January 19, 1947 in Devils Lake, ND. He Graduated from Unity High School in Petersburg, ND May 20, 1965. Within one year he was drafted into the U.S. Army August 9, 1966. He served in Vietnam for 11 months, 29 days earning the Vietnam Service Medal with a Bronze Service Star.
Doug worked at Simplot in Grand Forks as Head of Maintenance and Scheduling from 1982 until January, 2015 when he retired. He married Myrna White November 27, 1976 who preceded him in death.
He has a son, Richard D. Sweeney of Cripplecreek, CO, Step-daughter Wendy Finnegan (Thomas) of Comstock, MN, Step-daughter Leslie Cole of Larimore, ND, Step-son Myles White of Indiana, Step-son Kerry White (Tammy) of Grand Forks, ND.
Doug has 11 grandchildren and 18 Great Grandchildren.
